Concepts' collaborative "Boston Marathon" themed adidas Originals ZX 9000 will release globally tomorrow but the brand already has another footwear collaboration to announce.
Teaming up with Vault by Vans, the duo have taken the iconic Sk8-Hi and Classic Slip-On and added a mohair kick to both pairs. Officially dubbed the "Kings Road" pack, the sneakers pay homage to the punk movement of the '70s and draws inspiration from classic Vivienne Westwood color-blocked mohair sweaters.
Purple Plumeria covers the Sk8-Hi while a Black Marshmallow takes over the Slip-On. Each pair of sneakers will have their own unique mohair pattern. Concepts will also launch a private label collection with a "Up Yours" tee and branded crewneck.
Deon Point, Concepts' Creative Director had this to say:
“Concepts has a long working relationship with Vans and every time we partner together, we tend to walk the line and push each other further. This Mohair collection is no exception. We explored the punk era of the 1970s, a period which theoretically is thought of as an anti-fashion movement, but one that we’ve seen throughout the years informing fashion on many levels. In addition to its timelessness from a style perspective, the youth of today have a lot in common with those of the late 1970s, which has informed this generation’s fashion, politics and outlook.”
The collection launches on September 24 via Concepts stores and online at cncpts.com. You can pick up the Sk8-Hi for $110, the Slip-On for $90, the tee for $30 and the sweater for $90. In related news, Supreme dropped their seasonal Vans collaboration this week.
