Monday Briefing: Drake x Nike NOCTA, Supreme x TNF FW20 Drop 2, Moncler buys Stone Island, and plenty of Nike collaborations releasing

This has been a crazy year and with news of a COVID-19 vaccine being available soon, it seems like life as we knew it is going to return sometime in 2021 or 2022. That hasn't stopped brands from collaborating and pushing out release after release though. To catch you up on all the big news from the last week, we've put together the list below.

Moncler is buying Stone Island for $1.4 billion

Nearly a month after the huge announcement that VF Corp. will be buying Supreme, Moncler announced that it is acquiring Stone Island. The Italian outerwear specialists will acquire their Italian counterparts for a lofty €1.15 billion EUR which translates to $1.4 billion USD. Moncler will buy 70% of Stone Island from Carlo Rivetti and his family before buying the remaining 30% from investor Temasek. You can read more about the details via Financial Times.

AMBUSH x Nike Dunk High release info

As part of a larger basketball collection alongside the NBA and Nike, AMBUSH will be dropping a Nike Dunk High silhouette. Designer Yoon Ahn channeled multiple points of interest, including Japanese bike, car and truck culture in order to arrive at this design. The extended heel and Swoosh are inspired by the Bosozoku car sub-culture in Japan which features extended front lips and exhaust pipes on cars and exaggerated seats on bikes. These will drop for $180 on SNKRS app on December 11.

Drake and Nike unveil NOCTA sub-label

Last week, Drake and Nike officially unveiled a new sub-label called NOCTA. The Toronto rapper has already crafted OVO x Jordan collabs in the past and now his new project with the Swoosh will be a nod to his nocturnal creative process and include products for those who live his lifestyle - of constant hustle, loyalty and creativity. Drizzy penned his feelings on nike.com and the collection will drop on December 18 via nocta.com.

Nike Air Max 95 returns in "Neon Yellow"

Nike bought back the beloved "Infrared" colorway on the Air Max 90 earlier this year and now they'll cater to OG heads once again with an Air Max 95 "Neon" retro. Originally inspired by the human body back in 1995, the design is still timeless and the neon eyelets, which represented ribs; the layered panels, which represent muscle fibers and flesh; and the midsole, which represented the spine, are still striking to this day. Fans can purchase these on December 17 via SNKRS app for $170.

Nike and sacai ready second wave of VaporWaffle colorways

Following the successful launch of the "Black/White" and "Royal Fuchsia" colorways last month, sacai and Nike are ready to release two more versions of the VaporWaffle sneaker. This time around, a "Tour Yellow/Gorge Green-Sail" and "String/Black-Villain Red" iteration are set to hit shelves. These brighter colors will help us through the holidays and there are still more unreleased colors from the sacai Spring/Summer 2021 lookbook that we can look forward to. Both will hit SNKRS app on December 17 for $180.

Stussy x Nike Air Force 1 release info

Following Stussy and Nike's initial release of a "Fossil" and "Pure Platinum" Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 and subsequent "Black" version earlier this year, the duo reunite to collaborate on the Air Force 1 before the year is out. Once again channeling the "Fossil Stone" and "Black" motifs, these two tonal colorways are made in a durable hemp canvas and feature an embroidered Swoosh logo and Stussy City tongue tab. Stussy will release the sneakers on December 11 and December 12 at chapter stores so head to stussy.com now to check when your shop will drop them. Additional pieces in the collection include three Benassi slides, a jacket, pants and skirt - all padded with Thermore EcoDown recycled fiber fill. Sean Cliver x Nike SB Dunk Low "Holiday Special" release info

Sean Cliver, the skateboard artist and boss of StrangeLove Skateboards, is delivering some holiday cheer this season with a "Holiday Special" Nike SB Dunk Low. Fans of his work know that he's meticulous with details and his sneaker is filled with them. Tinsel-inspired elements like the Swoosh are paired with velvet suede on the upper and premium leather. Two different insoles accompany the sneaker - one with elves making toys and another with his signature and snowflakes. The snowflake is also carried out on the toe box with a perforation design. These will drop December 19 via SNKRS app for $110.

Phaidon releases new Nike book - Nike: Better is Temporary

Nike is finally giving the public a look into its internal design philosophy with their new Nike: Better is Temporary book from publisher Phaidon. Two exposed cardboard covers in a single-layer nonwoven jacket covers the pages of details that range from the Breaking2 project to athletes, collaborations, ads, inclusion and sustainability. Nike's Chief Design Officer, John Hoke explains that the title comes from what he fundamentally believes: "that the central thesis of Nike is 'The best is temporary at best.'" You can purchase the book now on phaidon.com for $89.95. Books will ship on December 10.

Supreme x The North Face Fall/Winter 2020 second collection release info

Supreme and The North Face will release a second collection for Fall/Winter 2020 this week. Following their first drop off at the end of October that featured a huge "S" logo design, the duo now brings a faux fur collection to the table. Black, green and red adorn the capsule which includes the iconic Nuptse Jacket alongside accessories like a Backpack and Waist Bag. Head over to Supreme stores on December 10 to purchase. Japanese consumers will have to wait until December 12.

BBC taps jeweler Greg Yuna for exclusive Helmet Head necklaces

New York jeweler Greg Yuna was recently asked by Billionaire Boys Club to craft exclusive Helmet Head necklaces. Pharrell's iconic logo for the brand was reimagined in 14K yellow gold and 14K rose gold. Both pieces feature the BBC Heart & Mind Mantra on the rear with raised letters over a moon surface print. The yellow gold version features a 1.1 carat diamond encrusted face which commands a $3,500 price tag while the rose gold version is only $2,500. Both are available now via bbcicecream.com.

Woolrich partners with Neighborhood Spot to tell six New York small business stories

Over the weekend, Woolrich teamed up with Neighborhood Spot, a community program, to highlight six local NYC small businesses. The program allowed each one to tell their story via woolrich.com while also allowing patrons to give back to the community. The six small businesses include Regina's Grocery, Albanese Meat & Poultry, Ray's Candy Shop, Takahachi East Village, Cheeky's Sandwich and Baz Bagels. Check out the campaign below. Woolrich also kicked off their Coat Drive in support of the Bowery Mission on December 5. We urge you to continue to support small businesses in this time of need and give back if you're able.

mastermind WORLD x Dr. Martens 1460 release info

The final installation of Dr. Marten's 1460 Remastered program will be released later this month. Alongside mastermind WORLD, the 1460 boot will feature a punk-inspired jungle zipper down the middle with dual-branded zippers. Size zippers will allow for easier entry into the boots while Masaaki Homma's iconic skull and crossbones cover both the leather sides and heel. Pharrell Williams x adidas "Triple Black" collection release info

For the holidays this year, Pharrell takes a monochromatic approach to adidas and adidas Originals silhouettes. Covering six sneakers in "Triple Black," the idea of the collection is to highlight functionality explains Pharrell. "The vision is to further distill the form of functional objects down to their essence. Removing all distraction allows us to see every detail clearly and make the story uniquely ours," he says. The range will include the Stan Smith, Superstar, Continental 80, Samba, NMD_R1 and ZX 2K BOOST.
